  • Jennifer's compassion, dedication, ongoing support and endless resources has been a blessing to my entire family.

My daughter was struggling to read in school. This began to affect her self-esteem and I decided to take matters into my own hands. I turned to Jen Brickhouse for her services. She was able to diagnose my daughter in a timely fashion. This allowed me to get her help quickly within the school system. Giving my daughter the support that she needs in the classroom has changed her outlook on life and she is now thriving!

  • I didn't feel overwhelmed, but empowered with a feasible action plan to help my son.

When I first noticed that my son was struggling with basic concepts of reading and phonics I immediately went to Jen Brickhouse to seek her expert opinion. I loved the way that Jen worked with my son. He is normally shy around people he does not know, so I was worried that he would not open up enough during his evaluation. However, Jen made him feel right at home and comfortable, and within a few minutes he was his normal self! I also appreciated how timely Jen was in delivering the evaluation results. As a parent, I felt so encouraged by the amount of knowledge Jen had to share with us during our follow-up meeting.

  • My son was struggling in school, and he felt like he was not intelligent.

Initially, I took him to a psychologist to have an evaluation. The psychologist did the evaluation and then weeks later, my husband and I met with him to review the findings. He told us that our son "had a low IQ". We were devastated, we left the office in tears and with no clear direction as to how to help him. The school suggested that we get a second opinion and referred us to Mrs. Brickhouse. Jen is very warm and inviting; my son immediately felt comfortable. She told us how our son learns and told us how his brain processes information. She told us that our son was smart, that his IQ was actually above average!! Jen worked with us to find the right intervention specialists in our area, she educated us on his rights in a school system and gave us tons of resources to help him. I am very thankful that we went to Jen, she helped us help our son.

  • Jen is very invested in her clients and it shines through in her work.

  • I refer her to ALL of my friends, and I cannot say enough positive things about her as a person or as a diagnostician.

Jen is an incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and adept diagnostician. When I first started seeing signs of dyslexia in my oldest son, Jen professionally guided us through the process with care and compassion. She has gone above and beyond to help our family. She has been patient through all of my questions, answering all of them with thought and expertise while relaying all of the information to me in terms and ways that were easy to understand. Jen helped our family with an action plan moving forward that will best help our son. I have seen him grow leaps through the years and Jen has continued to be there to answer all of our questions and help us pivot our plan when needed to. When it comes to your child’s education and learning needs, you want to trust them with the best and most qualified individual who has years of experience. Jen is that person. I refer her to ALL of my friends, and I cannot say enough positive things about her as a person or as a diagnostician. I HIGHLY recommend Jen and can’t thank her enough!

  • I want to sincerely thank you for putting us onto Sandstone Neurofeedback

Yes, thank you Jen, I’m eager to have you meet --- and gain any insights you may have on ways to help him. I want to sincerely thank you for putting us onto Sandstone Neurofeedback, --- did about 100 neurofeedback sessions starting in April that ended last week. They did the initial 3-month program and then extended two extra months. They seem to have benefited from the sessions as both boys are trying to go medication free this school year. We’ll see how things progress but so far -- feels like he doesn’t need meds except for important times like final exams or an important test. -- is also trying to go med free, and I’ve asked his advisor and teachers to watch him and see if he’s able to focus, contribute to the class, and generally pay attention. The verdict is still out, but -- seems to have his situation well in hand. -- mostly stopped the tics/stimming he’s done for many years, we assumed he would grow out of them, but he never really did. He thinks the neurofeedback was the catalyst for reducing his tics.

--- took the practice SAT last spring and made a 1200, so we enrolled him into Woodlands Test Prep, and after taking the prep course and completing several months of neurofeedback he made a 1560 on his next SAT. That’s incredible, and we were so proud of how hard he worked to get ready for that test, when he wants something, he laser focuses and gets it done. Also, -- saw Dr. West and she prescribed the prism lenses that we had made at Warby Parker for a steal, that place is a real value. Unfortunately, -- can’t stand to read fiction, so it was nearly impossible to get him to read the type of books Dr. West suggested. I even made a reading log that he would earn $5 for every day he read 20 minutes with the glasses, but he wouldn’t do it. He did say that he’s been using the glasses for normal reading assignments so maybe there will be some benefit if not the complete benefit he would get from reading a world-building fantasy series like Harry Potter. Wears prescription glasses so I’m eager to see if he has a similar reading challenge -- has and could benefit from prismatic lenses as well.

Again, thank you for the truly impactful insight you gave us with your evaluation of --, implementing the recommendations has been transformative for the boys. Dr. -- who initially evaluated -- and -- was a respected and accomplished clinical psychologist, but she gave us nothing to help the boys except for a diagnosis that facilitated accommodation. She didn’t take the time to learn about the resources and modalities that you recommended that have been far more impactful to the boys than just medicating them into submission. She may have a Ph.D., and a huge office filled with 30 years of books, decorations, and Persian rugs, but she can’t compare to you when it comes to actually helping the child. Anyone could have diagnosed their ADHD but very few make the effort to read and learn about new and unconventional ways of legitimately helping those with ADHD. Thank you!
