Importance of Evaluation

If you suspect your child has a learning difference don't put off getting them evaluated!

When kids are having trouble with academics or behavior, early intervention is crucial to turning the tide and helping them succeed.

The evaluation process can create lots of different emotions for families. But after the evaluation, you should have a clear picture of your child’s strengths and challenges and an understanding of how to help your child thrive.

When the evaluation takes place outside of school, it’s called an “outside” or “private” evaluation. A private evaluation is an evaluation by a professional not working for your child’s school.

You control the type of testing that happens in a private evaluation. In some cases, a school will agree to pay for — or be required to pay for — private testing. Check with your child's school to see if this is a possibility.
